Christmas Program Thursday

Our students have been working hard to prepare for a wonderful Christmas program Thursday!  We hope you and your family and friends will join us at 1:00 or 7:00 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.  The 1:00 performance will be streamed online live and we will post that link soon!

ALL who are in chorus –
Wear uniforms to school on Thursday.
At 12:15 you may change into your “costumes”. If you were asked to bring something from home, please bring it and you may change at 12:15 also.
Most will just slip costume over uniform unless Mr. Hutcheson told you differently.

Band will follow Mr. Bakers directives (he sent an email today).

Students who are in chorus and do not have a “costume” part may wear Christmas attire as the rest have been instructed to for the day. You may not wear jeans or athletic wear.

See below for specifics if they do not have a costume for chorus…

What to Wear:
5th Grade:
  • 5th Grade will be wearing costumes to go along with one of the songs we are singing. They will stay in these costumes for the whole show to make things simple. Most of the costumes are provided, with the exception of a few people. Specifics about each child’s costume will be sent to the parents.
  • The costumes are:
  • Santa, Reindeer, Elves, Christmas Tree, Christmas PJ’s, and Outdoor Snow Attire.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child
5th Grade Community Service Project
Due: Friday, November 15th

Decide whether you want to fill your shoe box for a girl or boy. Then decide which age group: 2-4 years old, 5-9 years old, or 10-14 years old. Use the plastic shoe box provided to fill with items that are appropriate for the age group you picked. Remember to look at the website to make sure you don’t pack anything that is prohibited. When you have finished packing your box, bring it back to school. We will include our friendly letter, label, postage, and secure them for delivery.

*You do NOT need to include the $9 donation as this has already been included in your “Field Trip” funds that you have already paid for.

As part of an in-class assignment, you will write a letter to the child that the shoe box will go to. This will be written in class and will be a writing grade. If you choose, you may include a picture of yourself, as well as the SCHOOL ADDRESS, for them to write you back.

Author Visit

We are so excited that Eric Litwin, original author of the Pete the Cat books and many other fun stories, will be visiting FPD on November 5th.  To show Mr. Litwin how much we love his books, we're encouraging students to wear polka dots on the day that he visits!  Students may wear polka dot pants, shirts, skirts, socks, Dad’s tie, hairbows, etc., but the rest of their outfit should be school uniform.

Check out his website to learn more about his books!

Author Visit

The library is so excited about our visiting author next month, Eric Litwin, on Tuesday, November 5th.  Have you returned your order form and check if you would like to buy any of his 10 books and have them autographed during his visit?  All forms and money are due by Tuesday, Oct. 8, in time for me to pre-order the books.

Your child’s author visit will be greatly enhanced if he or she frequents the links below on your phone or iPad.  In these links, your child will hear Eric Litwin reading his books, singing the accompanying songs, and even teaching the kids the dance moves that accompany his songs and books.  Please help your child be the star singer and dancer at Mr. Litwin’s presentation!
